A marvellous view, taken from the roof of the South Western Hotel, looking west across Southampton. In the distance, across Southampton Water, can be seen the Town Quay and, beyond, the trees of the New Forest. Most of the area covered in water was reclaimed during the early 1930's and is now the site of the West Quay shopping centre and 'new' docks. In the foreground can be seen Queen's Park, bordered by Platform Road on the left and Queen's Terrace on the right. In the left foreground can just be seen Union Castle House, the shipping line's Southampton offices.
