Alexandra Royal Military Hospital, Portsdown Hill

Alexandra Royal Military Hospital, Portsdown Hill 2072

In Stuart's day the hospital stood in a largely agricultural setting with animals grazing the hillside. Today the southern slopes of Portsdown Hill surrounding the site are covered in housing estates. Originally built 1904-1908, these grand brick buildings no longer exist, the modern hospital standing on the site. Stuart must have captured this not long after construction was completed.
