"Jack" The Railway Dog

 "Jack" The Railway Dog

Such charity collecting dogs and (after their demise), their stuffed selves were popular sights on Britain's railway stations during the Victorian and Edwardian periods. This Jack is still clearly in the land of the living although he did feature on the platform at Southampton Central (then Southampton West) for about 60 years until his removal during renovations in the 1960's. Jack stood where WH Smiths is now.
